SONS OF KYUSS
a hard album to find... ive heard that it was released back when the band was still in high school, but i do not know if that is true... it was released around 1990. it is a pretty good CD, more the early desert-punk sound of Wretch than their better, later material. still, it has a few very good songs that you cannot find anywhere else... Happy Birthday, and Isolation::Desolation with a wicked cool intro that they cut out from the Wretch version.

WRETCH
studio album... released in 1991 on Dali Records, this album has the same desert punk feel that Sons of Kyuss has, and many of its songs were taken directly from Sons of Kyuss. it has some songs (the two that come to mind are HWY74 and The Law) that show Josh's skills as a guitarist, and it is overall pretty decent debut for the band.

Blues for the Red Sun
this is the first Kyuss CD that shows their true difference from every other band. incredibly creative, well-written songs, which apart are all somewhere in the land of pretty good and kickin ass, but together, form a stoner anthem. i have never heard another CD like this... it captures Kyuss perfectly, 100% distortion, heavy riffs and power chords, yet much smoother than on Wretch or on Sons of Kyuss. this is a masterpiece. i just bought the vinyl recently, and it sounds good on that, as well.

Welcome to Sky Valley
the Kyuss debut on Elektra. the first Kyuss CD i bought. another masterpiece. the Kyuss fuzzed-out sound, mixed with a ton of melody etc, and they even throw in a few acoustic songs (Space Cadet and Asteroid, somewhat)... it is split into only three tracks, plus a bonus track, each track containing between three and four songs. these were also sold as singles at one point... i have this on vinyl too, and it sounds excellent.

...And the Circus Leaves Town
i have heard many people say that they dont like this CD, but i, personally, love it. completely fuzzed- out, and it completes the evolution of Kyuss from desert punk to true stoner rock. with every other CD, the change from the sound of the CD before was less apparent, but with this one, its more obvious... mellower, but still extemely heavy. Trippy beyond belief at points... completely sweet.

Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age split
this one has three songs by kyuss, and three by Queens of the Stone Age. the Kyuss songs, including a cover of Into the Void by Black Sabbath, all carry on in the tradition of Circus. i dont especially like 'Flip the Phase' too much, but that's just my opinion... the Queens of the Stone Age songs are taken from the 'Gamma Ray' record. this (Gamma Ray) is very hard to find, but you can sometimes find it on eBay.com.

Muchas Gracias ...the Best of
an excellent CD! compiles many of the bands best hits, along with songs that were previously hard to find anywhere else (including many from the 'Black Jeweller' CD), because they were released as bonus tracks on singles, on sampler CDs, etc. it also includes some live performances at the Marquee Club in Germany... this show was previously released, but is very hard to find, and it sounds like they remastered these live recordings... this one is definitely worth buying!!!

3-for-1 Box Set
just a set that includes three Kyuss albums... Blues for the Red Sun, Welcome to Sky Valley, & And the Circus Leaves Town. i would buy this if you dont have those CDs, but other than that, dont bother.

Mercurius Pools
a good live set from kyuss... recorded in 1995 in Austin, TX, it is an excellent CD. worth buying if you can manage to find a copy. recording quality is pretty decent for a live performance, and it has some good versions of their songs, including Supa Scoopa and the Mighty Scoop and 50-Million Year Trip (8 minutes long!!!), both available in my MP3 section.

Desert Storm
another live set... includes Gardenia live from an Italian TV Studio and songs performed in Ohio and at the Bizarre Festival in 1995. a very good CD, except that the version of Apothecaries' Weight on this CD has some nasty feedback. i put some songs from this in the MP3 section.

To Infinity and Beyond
another live set, but the quality is not as good as the others. contains a live version of Whitewater, plus a lot of songs from the 'Circus' era... i cant get too much more specific than this, because i have not listened to this CD very much.

Black Jeweller
released New Year's Day in 1997, this is a home-issued bootleg. originally, only 18 (I think) were in existence, and only on CD-R. this contains many songs from singles, live version of Whitewater, and the Slo Burn demoes that are hard to find in other places. more copies exist now, because people have spread them by making more copies. this CD is not really worth buying, because you can get most of the songs on Muchas Gracias anyway.
