Kyuss

Kyuss is an amazing stoner/desert rock band. They have a unique heavy-but-laid-back feeling to their music, and there is no other band I can compare them to. Kyuss never got much recognition by radio, MTV, or anything else mainstream, but they have a huge underground following. I first discovered this band on luck... One day, less than a year ago, I was on Napster and was searching for a TooL song I hadn't heard. I stumbled upon Demon Cleaner, a live Kyuss cover featuring Scott Reeder (bassist from Kyuss). I realized that this band kicked major ass, downloaded more of their songs, bought all of their CDs, and began converting my friends to fans. Though Kyuss is no longer around, there are many offshoots of the band, such as Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, UNIDA, Slo Burn, etc., and their influence can be heard in any desert rock today. During the band's existence, the members changed. The four original members were:

John Garcia - Vocals
Josh Homme - Guitar
Nick Oliveri - Bass
Brant Bjork - Drums

The final line-up of the band changed to:

John Garcia - Vocals
Josh Homme - Guitar
Scott Reeder - Bass
Alfredo Hernandez - Drums
